Everyone has moles and they have a wide range of appearances. They can appear anywhere on the skin and are usually brown in color. Most moles surface during the first 20 years of life and they often change color, size and shape over time, especially during pregnancy. Although most are harmless, certain moles may develop into a form of skin cancer known as malignant melanoma. Consistent monitoring of moles are key to catching melanoma early.
